ReplyDelete1, With what words does Banquo reaffirm his loyalty to King Duncan?
BANQUO says “So I lose none in seeking to augment it, but still keep my bosom franchised and allegiance clear, I shall be counseled”(2.1.27-30).
Banquo tells Macbeth I will help you all you want as long as Banquo remains loyal to the king. He does not want to do any harm to the king, but he needs to help his friend.
2. What lie does Macbeth tell Banquo and why?
Macbeth says “I think not of them” (2.1.22).
Macbeth tells Banquo he does not think of the witches. Macbeth always thinks of and believes them so much that even he plans to kill the king because the witches told him to that he shall be king.
3. How do Macbeth and Lady Macbeth differ in their reactions to the murder?
Macbeth feels guilty and Lady Macbeth is more brave than Macbeth. Lady Macbeth encourages Macbeth to do what needs to be done but he will not because he is afraid it. Lady Macbeth returns the daggers to the king’s room. Macbeth stands in the hall with shame.
4. Who are Macbeth's other victims? Why does he commit more murders?
Banquo is the other victim. Because he know the witches’ who told Macbeth he would be the thane of Cardow and then he would be the king. Macbeth is afraid Banquo will tell the others. Because the others can guess he is killed who killed the king.
5. Considering journal entry number 3, what are some recurring motifs in Act 2?
